What is Engraving?
Engraving is defined as the process or art of cutting or carving a design onto a hard surface. Metal can be engraved by machine or by hand. The first step to engraving metals is polishing to remove all scratches and imperfections from the surface. For hand engraving, the engraver incises or cuts a design directly onto the surface of the piece using a sharp tool, known as a burin.
